Data requirements Bromcom

To successfully import contact details, message contacts within Schoolcomms and for parents to access School Gateway, you will need the following data in Bromcom:

The 'Data processing consent has been granted' checkbox will need to be ticked in Bromcom for students, staff and contacts. The data won't be imported into Schoolcomms unless the checkbox has been ticked.

  • Schoolcomms will import from the “Mobile Phone” and “Email Address” fields.
  • The parent needs to be set as Priority 1 for that student, or match your import strategy if you've changed who is imported.
  • Parental Responsibility also needs to be applied for parents to be able to give consent, see balances and make bookings on School Gateway.

Editing a parent’s contact details

  • When editing a parent’s contact details, Bromcom allows you to add multiple mobile numbers - Schoolcomms will import the first in the list if this is the case.
  • There are 3 types of email addresses - Work, Personal and Other, All time - Schoolcomms imports any of these.
  • If there are multiple email addresses, Schoolcomms will import the first one.

For students

  • Bromcom allows students to have multiple mobile numbers - in which case, Schoolcomms will import the first one in the list.
  • There are 3 types of email addresses - Work, Personal and Other, All time - Schoolcomms imports any of these.
  • If there are multiple email addresses, Schoolcomms will import the first one.

For staff

  • Bromcom allows staff members to have multiple mobile numbers - in which case, Schoolcomms will import the first in the list.
  • There are 3 types of email addresses - Work, Personal and Other, All time - Schoolcomms imports any of these.
  • If there are multiple email addresses, Schoolcomms will import the first one.

Staff roles

  • If the staff role in Bromcom via Staff>Select Staff member>Contracts>Current contains the word “Teacher”, the member will be placed into the MIS: Staff - Teacher (Schoolcomms created) group.
  • Any other roles will place the staff member into the MIS: Staff - Support Staff (Schoolcomms created) group.

Your import settings determine the contacts and data that are imported from your MIS database.
To review your Schoolcomms Import Settings go to Dashboard > Import Management > Edit settings
