Creating Special Menus
Please find instructions below to assist you with creating a Special Menu in Cypad.
If a child has specific allergies or dietary requirements, rather than manually assigning allergies/diet types to all menu items, you can instead create a special menu template and assign it to the relevant children.
Before creating the special menus, you will need to add any new menu items required via Cypad > Menus > Items
Follow the steps below to create your special menus:
- Enable the new user interface via the toggle in the top right-hand corner
- Click into Menus at the top of your screen.
- The menus will appear in a column on the left-hand side under the ‘Lunch’ drop down. Click onto ‘Lunch’ select Actions in the right-hand corner of the screen, the option to ‘Add Menu’ will now appear
- Click onto ‘Add Menu’ and you will be asked to give the Special Menu a name.
- Click Save and your Special menu will now appear listed on the left-hand side of the screen under the ‘Lunch’ header
- Click onto the Special Menu, you will see all of the ‘Main’ menu items appear alongside the menu. You can now drag and drop the relevant ‘Main’ meal items onto the day.
- If you are using Dessert items, you can click onto the ‘Dessert’ drop down underneath the ‘Main’ items. You will then see all of the Dessert menu items appear alongside the Special Menu. You can now drag and drop the relevant ‘Dessert’ meal items onto the day.
- Once you are happy with the meals you have added, click Save at the top of the screen.
- You will need to assign the special menu to the child via Cypad (top left hand corner) > Meals > Students and click on the child’s name and a window will open with the students details. You will need to choose the special menu template from the ‘Menu Template’ drop-down and then click Save at the bottom of the screen.
You will then need to create a Special menu template.
To do this:
- Click into Menus and then Templates at the top of the screen
- Select ‘Student Template’ from the left-hand side, then click onto Actions in the top right-hand side of the screen
- Click Add Template and you will be asked to give the template a name.
- The special menu template you have created will now appear listed under the ‘Student Templates’
- Click onto the Special template. All of the Menus previously added will appear on the left-hand side next to the template.
- You will need to drag and drop the special menu onto the relevant week.
- Once you are happy select Save in the top left-hand side of the screen. The special menu will override the ‘normal' menu rotation, so School Gateway and the whiteboard will only display the special menu items for the child that it has been assigned to.
