What are Diet Types used for?

How each of the dietary restrictions works with an in-depth explanation.

Each Student has a Diet Type record which contains a checklist of dietary restrictions e.g. Halal.

When a Diet Type (e.g. Halal) is selected any conflicting Diet Types will be Un-selectable (greyed out), this applied to the following:

  • If Suitable for Vegan is ticked Admin users can also select Suitable for Vegetarian, Suitable for Pescatarian, and Suitable for Halal.
  • If Suitable for Vegetarian is ticked Admin users can also select Suitable for Halal, Suitable for Vegan, and Suitable for Pescatarian.
  • If Suitable for Pescatarian is ticked Admin users can also select Suitable for Vegan, Suitable for Vegetarian, and Suitable for Halal.
  • If Suitable for Halal is ticked Admin users can also select Suitable for Vegetarian, Suitable for Pescatarian, Suitable for Vegan, and Contains Beef.
  • If Contains Beef is ticked Admin users can also select Contains Pork and Suitable for Halal.
  • If Contains Pork is ticked Admin users can also select Contains Beef.

If you do not yet have the Vegan and Pescatarian options any conflicting Diet Types will be Un-selectable (greyed out), this applied to the following:

  • If a student is marked as Vegetarian then they can see all menu Items marked as Vegetarian regardless of what other diet types are ticked
  • If a student is marked as Halal they can see all menu Items marked as Halal/Vegetarian regardless of what other diet types are ticked
  • If a student is marked as No Beef they cannot see menu items marked as Beef
  • If a student is marked as No Pork they cannot see menu items marked as Pork
